The Dead have waited. The day has come.
Greetings! In our continuing Trek through George Romero's Dead series we have the third installment, Day of the Dead. You can view the Trailer HERE.
This installment deals with a group of civilian scientists and military who have taken refuge in an underground bunker. Each group has their own agenda. The military wants to eradicate the undead and the scientist want to find some way to at least control the situation.
The moral of this film is a testament to how we treat others and other groups.
It's obvious there is no love loss between the two groups. While the military think that the scientist are trying to find a cure, the good Dr. Logan is in fact trying to educate one undead in particular, Bub. Lieutenant Rhodes has taken control and does not agree with the use of resources.
As bad blood begins to boil over into real contempt Sarah realizes that she is lost and hopeless of the events that are occurring. In this film we see a true breakdown of social order. Each group starts to turn on themselves until one member lets the undead horde into the compound. The compound is over run as the horde tears the soldiers apart and Bub learns how to fire a weapon. He open fires on Rhodes and chases him down running him into the corridor filled with undead. Rhodes meet his demise in a classic Romero disembowelment. Torn in two he utters with his last breathe, "Choke on em!"
The film ends with Sarah, McDermont, and John on the beach in some undisclosed location waiting for help or waiting for the end of humanity.
This may be a short review for this movie, But it really lacks depth. That is the shortcoming of the film, it lacks depth of character and development of story. It is not lacking in gore as the gore factor is increased exponentially.
I have to give this 3.5 severed thumbs. And remember
I Watch this shit so you dont have to!
